Choosing a storage add-on

The base system drive is a 256GB SSD. Extra storage is useful for workloads with large dependency caches, build artifacts, model files, or proxy media. Estimate peak usage first, then leave room for synchronization and cleanup.

Three capacity metrics to check before ordering

  • Current usage:Measure the actual space used by projects, dependencies, build caches, logs, and artifacts—not just source-code size.
  • Peak space:Archives, tests, and exports may temporarily retain input files, intermediate files, and final artifacts. Size for peak usage, not everyday usage.
  • Export headroom:Download or synchronize essential data before the rental ends. Avoid consuming all capacity with caches that cannot be reused.

Interconnect add-on for multi-machine workflows

Thunderbolt 5 interconnect is priced per machine for workflows that require multiple physical nodes to work together. It does not upgrade single-machine performance; choose it only when the workload clearly needs node-to-node connectivity.

When it makes sense:Examples include splitting work across machines, high-speed data exchange between nodes, or placing multiple dedicated nodes in one execution chain. For standard remote development, single-machine Xcode builds, and single-node runners, validate the base configuration first.

    The node address, system account, and temporary credentials are generated. After receiving them, follow the support-page checklist for your first SSH or VNC connection.

What matters most for remote desktops

Check round-trip latency from the client to the node first, then monitor jitter, packet loss, and available bandwidth. Resolution, color depth, and background synchronization all affect the feel of VNC or screen sharing.

What matters most for CI/CD

Along with connection latency, check code checkout, dependency downloads, cache reads, and artifact-upload paths. The region closest to a developer may not be closest to the repository or storage.
